چکیده
Science is facing a new RNA world that shaping our knowledge, and we are discovering horizon in molecular biology. New technologies revealed thousands of RNAs, most them located what was once known as the “dark matter DNA”. They functional regulatory RNAs do not code for proteins, they orchestrate cellular function according to changes needed. These noncoding ubiquitous, present from viruses humans. In this Virtual Issue, The FEBS Journal features collection recent articles on long microRNAs, circular RNAs. It gives broad perspective regarding their role vascular diseases, ocular immune cell development homeostasis, inflammation, production extracellular matrix, cancer. Furthermore, review-type highlight potential use wide range applications.

Long noncoding RNAs in gastric cancer: functions and clinical applications
Over the last two decades, genome-wide studies have revealed that only a small fraction of the human genome encodes proteins; long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) account for 98% of the total genome. These RNA molecules, which are >200 nt in length, play important roles in diverse biological processes, including the immune response, stem cell pluripotency, cell proliferation, apoptosis, differentiatio...
متن کاملNoncoding regulatory RNAs database
The noncoding RNAs database is a collection of currently available sequence data on RNAs, which have no protein-coding capacity and have been implicated in regulation of cellular processes. The RNAs included in the database form very heterogenous group of molecules that act on different levels of information transmission in the cell. It includes RNAs acting on the level of chromatin structure, ...
متن کاملnoncoding rnas and cancer
the eukaryotic complexity involves the expression and regulation of genes via rna-dna, rna-rna, dna-protein and rna-protein interactions. recently, the role of rna molecules in the regulation of genes in higher organisms has become more evident, especially with the discovery that about 97% of the transcriptional output in higher organisms are represented as noncoding rnas: rrna, snornas, trna, ...
متن کاملTranscriptional regulatory functions of nuclear long noncoding RNAs
Several nuclear localised intergenic long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been ascribed regulatory roles in transcriptional control and their number is growing rapidly. Initially, these transcripts were shown to function locally, near their sites of synthesis, by regulating the expression of neighbouring genes. More recently, lncRNAs have been demonstrated to interact with chromatin at several th...
